Keeping busy

The likes of Lombok (www.lombok.co.uk) and Carluccio's (www.carluccios.com) have kept me busy in the last few weeks with some great shoots.

I'm still working on prints from Iceland, the response from the friends and clients who have seen a sneak limited preview has been fantastic, I'm very grateful for all the support.

Next week I'm hoping to post a short behind the scene story from a food shoot, working with my dream team, more to follow.

Jokulsarlon

I'm still working on, and I think I will be for a few more days a first edit of images from Iceland.

A big thank you to Natalie Dinham and Richard Leeney for helping make a selection from all the images I shot, plus their total enthusiasm for the whole Iceland project

And for all you geeks, I've been using for the first time Nik Silver Efex software for converting the files to black and white, the software which is a plug in to Photoshop appears to be fantastic, the conversion of data is very 'smooth' and I have total control over every aspect of the image, early days but I'm very pleased with it, The software had been recommended to me by many photographers, but a special mention should go to Robert Postma, a Canadian landscape photographer I meet around Jokulsarlon, Iceland several days running. Hugely talented photography and exceptionally nice guy. (It's amazing how fast you can bond with someone on a beach at 4 in the morning with the wind chill drive the mercury down to near -20c)

Iceland

Back from Iceland, amazing place.

I'm just starting to edit and work on the images I shot from an area called Jokulsarlon, which is a glacial Lagoon in south east Iceland.  The lagoon formed when the Vatanjokull glacier receded from the Atlantic Ocean and is now connected to the sea via a short channel which means the lagoon is tidal. At low tide icebergs flow out to sea, which then wash up on the nearby black lava beach. This is all very surreal, more so if you are shooting at 4:30 in the morning !

April showers

Thursday and Friday was back working with Lombok.co.uk shooting a new range of furniture. So lucky with the weather managed to shoot all the exterior shots before the showers arrived.

Art direction Laura North, and additional assistance from Sarah and Natasha @ Lombok big thanks to you all.

and a special thank you to my assistant, James Rees

I'm going to Iceland !!

Very excited about 4 day trip leaving Sunday 22nd.  My plan is to shoot mainly around the Jokulsarlon Glacier to build up a body of work for an exhibition.

I'm looking at very long days as dawn is around 5:15am and dusk around 10pm. if I'm very lucky with the weather I may even see the northern lights from midnight onwards.

will try and update the blog when I'm there.

Saturday, 31 March 2012

I currently have images running as ads in a number of up market interiors magazines. Plus today (31st March) in the Luxury Homes and Interiors magazine, the Saturday Telegraph and in a few weeks the Financial Times (21st April) has a special magazine called How to spend it (I think I've already spent it !) where more ads are appearing. Thanks to Chris and Yvonne at Conran Design. The fantastic Arabella McNie for styling and Natalie Dinham assisting

Slow Start but now catching up.

After a slow start to 2012, February & March have been full on. I've shot a lot with Lombok.co.uk, Art Directed by Laura North. After a difficult year in 2011 Lombok have taken a new direction this year which works well for me as we are shooting a new range each month.

I've also been shooting for Conran Design. Two different projects Vi-Spring and Ideal Standard. Natalie and I spent 2 days in Norfolk shooting in an amazing privately owned house and barn (Vi-Spring). and just finished four days in Plough Studio, Clapham (Ideal Standard).
