Conran Design

Best part of a 14 hour day shooting with Conran Design. stills in the morning, Just the 7 models in the shot, but we eventually nailed it. Afternoon and evening spent shooting a video piece for web. As always had my wing man Paul Fenn with me. Natalie switching from stills assistant to film assistant in the blink of an eye. Big thank you to the guys from Conran, Jamie, Keiron and Rubin for all thier help and support as the hours ticked by.

Conran are handling the edit & post production.

More filming !

Videographer. 'This is the way forwarded', to all those people who said that to me for the last 2-3 years I'm sorry I never listened ! Because it is the way forward.

I've quoted on a few more jobs either just Video or stills and Video, hopefully 1 should be confirmed in the next few days watch this space.

Filming

It's done ! my first video commission. Reef Design asked me to in addition to the stills photography, shoot a short (2-3mins) story introducing a new range of products.

The first morning I found it very differcult to switch between stills and video, but with a lot of support from Natalie my Photography assistant and Paul Fenn from Paul Fenn Films we had a very productive day, a big thank you to both of you, in particular Paul for never laughing at me or looking fazed as I asked for help setting up a complex combined tracking and panning shot.

I'm not involved in the edit but I'll post a link when it's completed.

Wales

I decided at short notice to head off to Wales last week hoping to add to my landscape folio. the original plan was to climb Cadair Idris but the weather turned out to be rubbish with rain forecast and a low cloud base. I decided after doing a recci the night before that the coast at Llwyngril had potential, I set my alarm early and started shoot by 5:30am

I'm delighted with the results and very pleased with the positive feed back I've had already.

and as for Cadair Idris I made it to the summit in driving rain and cloud, scary decent taking 3 attempts to find the route down, and never got my camera out once.

First steps into Film making

A few clients have started to ask if I 'do filming' with all the Hype around the Canon 5d MKII, I decided the time was right to get to grips with the idea of shooting moving images, A huge thank you to Paul Fenn from Paul Fenn Films for his short introduction to filming course, I highly recommend this if you are a photographer and fancy the idea of film making, the 5D is an amazing camera but it does have some major draw backs.

I've taken the plunge and ordered up a few extra pieces of equipment this weekend the most exciting being a short piece of glide track. hopefully this will arrive in the next week !

Wow, I've set up a blog. Now what ?

Ok, so I've decided that I should start a blog. mainly for work and hopefully others will contribute from time to time.

With the Blog I'll keep you updated on what I'm working on and what's on the Horizon and of course upload the odd image from shoots, test shoots or where ever I find myself.

Below is an image from a very successful trip in January to Scotland. It formed part of a series of images based around Glencoe and Rannoch Moor.

This trip rekindled my love of landscape photography and hopefully will be the start of a new body of work.
